Do you currently have Bell's Palsy? Yes
Did you experience any common "warning signs" before it set on? Yes. My face goes into an incredible amount of throbbish-stabby pain on the right side from the side of my eye down to my jaw, then I have to pop back to the doctor and say "It's back."
How long have you had Bell's and what percent recovered are you? 9 years, off and on I'd say I've had to take Prednisone for it about 5 times though.
What treatment, if any, did you undergo/are undergoing? Prednisone and some therapy thing I do when I'm better.
How did treatment affect your condition? It gets better.
Did Bell's turn out to be a symptom of another condition? Doctor thinks it's stress-related. Who knows.
How has Bell's Palsy affected you physically in the short- and long-term? When it's better I still get shooting pains in parts of my face, and my eye twitches visibly. When I relapse(?) back and have to take medication it's expensive and annoying.
How has Bell's Palsy affected you emotionally? Irritable about it and people who don't understand it. Occasionally have to correct someone that I haven't had a Stroke.
How were you treated by family, friends, acquaintances, and strangers once your appearance changed? My family understands. Friends don't seem to care either way, they're cool about the whole thing. Strangers stare or do a double-take. The salon lady has the worst time with it. Hard to get the eyebrows even when one of them is lower than the other. I've not gone back since.
