Do you currently have Bell's Palsy?Yes
Did you experience any common "warning signs" before it set on? (such as numbness of mouth, earache, muscle spasms, etc.) no, if i remember correctly it happened overnight, though it was 10 years ago.. o-o
How long have you had Bell's and what percent recovered are you? I was 7 when I got it...., I'm 17 now, And it "came back" when I was 15, and again today... My face has never been the same
What treatment, if any, did you undergo/are undergoing? Steroids, they put me on them, then when it "goes away"(though it's not really gone, my face is still messed up..) they take me off them..
How did treatment affect your condition?it worked for a little bit
Did Bell's turn out to be a symptom of another condition? (serious neurological problems, lyme disease, virii, etc.) no, thank god...
How has Bell's Palsy affected you physically in the short- and long-term? Well, I have horrible eyesight in my right eye, I drool, can't smile right.. thats all i can think off right now
How has Bell's Palsy affected you emotionally?Well, I was 7 when I got it, I don't think I really knew what was going on, but all i knew was I had to wear an eyepatch, etc, and little kids(sometimes unkowingly...) (as well as teenagers, and even some adults can be cruel) so I've never had a good self esteem, and I probably never will... I've tried to learn to ignore other peoples comments, but it's hard... I'm sure you all know about it..
How were you treated by family, friends, acquaintances, and strangers once your appearance changed? Well my family pretended like it wasn't even there, my friends asked me what was wrong with my face (in a nicer way than most people would ask), and I'd tell them, strangers.. well I got tons of insults etc, sometimes I got pity.. You guys know how it all goes...
